Camping Trip

The camping trip was awesome!! We were only there for two nights, but it was sooo much fun! Right after we got there, a big thunderstorm hit the lake (we were expecting it) so we sat under a big shelter until it was over. We didn't realize until we left the shelter that it had a metal roof. Oops! But God kept us safe! Sam and Olivia had their first real experience with camp bathrooms. I agree, it was gross (there were bugs everywhere, not to mention no ceiling!) but at least we had running water. We went hiking a few times, pulled tons of ticks off ourselves, played at a beach-type area, roasted marshmallows and made s'mores, sang songs around the campfire, and gazed at the innumerable stars (they were incredible).

I obviously am not consistent! (oh well)

Well, it's been a while (as in several months) since my birthday :). Being 15 doesn't feel much different than being 14.
School is done for the month of May, but that actually means that our break is almost over! Time goes so fast! I'm going to CYIA in a little over a week which is SO exciting. I've been looking forward to it pretty much since last year's CYIA ended. I'll be sending out a prayer request email this week, so keep an eye out!
This weekend, we are going camping with another family at a lake called Wilson Lake. Mom said she heard it doesn't have trees, which is hard for me to imagine. I've never been camping in a place that's not the middle of the forest! Sam has never been camping ever, and Olivia was just learning to walk the last time we camped, so she doesn't remember it. I think it'll be really fun!
I've been working on some creative writing projects this week (stories), and I now remember how much I enjoy it. Sometimes the hardest part of something is just getting it started. Also, I reread the book Do Hard Things by Alex and Brett Harris. Definitely recommend it! It's written for teens, but I think anyone could learn something from it.
I'll be sure to post some pictures of our camping trip after we get back!

Tomorrow...

Hi there! I can't believe tomorrow is my birthday (already!) I'm so excited! I'm going to be 15... WOW! That sounds almost old. Everybody here is being all secretive and obviously planning things. I can't look, I can't listen, etc. etc. Oh well, I'll find out tomorrow what they're up to :).
On Friday I'm having my real birthday party. Two of my friends are coming over and Mom is taking us to Olive Garden for a dress-up fancy dinner. Then they're come back to spend the night, and we'll probably stay up late (why else would it be called a sleepover? :) and do crafts and talk for a while. I can't wait!

Well, I have several demands for play, so I better go (Mom says it's because in a few hours I'll be 15 and never play again. oh seriously). Just think, my next post will be when I'm 15!

Hi Again

Wow, it's been a while since my last post! I've been really busy with school lately, but now that it's the weekend I might have more time.

We've had typical Kansas weather lately. Last Thursday, the 17th I think, it was 70 degrees at least! Then this past Thursday it SNOWED! Oh well, Spring is coming. Good thing it's usually early in Kansas!

Sorry the movie of the Concerto Competition isn't working. I can't get the website to download it, so I'll have to find another way. I hope I can find SOME way to get it on here...

Concerto Competition

Today I participated in a piano concerto competition. I played my song with my piano teacher accompanying me, instead of an orchestra. I've been practicing the concerto for MONTHS. And I had to play it from memory. Thankfully, God gave me confidence for my performance. I also got to watch a few of my friends play as well!  The hardest part was probably having to play it in front of people other than my family and teacher. The most exciting part is, I got 2nd place in my division (7th-9th grade)!!! That did mean I had to play my concerto a second time for the "Winner's Concert", but I played it about the best I've ever played it that time! Over all, it was a really neat experience because I've never competed in pretty much anything except volleyball. I am glad it's over though... :) The best part for y'all is Mom got it on video! Here you go!

Some Favorite Pictures

Here are some of my favorite pictures I've taken. I think quite a few of them are from last summer or fall.

As you can probably tell, I really like to take close-up pictures, especially nature things :).

First Post!

So, my very first post! I'm excited! I've been wanting to start a blog for a little while now. Here's what I plan to use it for:

  • posting pictures
  • posting stories
  • writing about what I'm doing
  • lots more!
I hope it will be helpful for those of you who live far away to learn a little more about what I my life is full of. And those of you that live close, just for fun!

I'll put some of my favorite photos on soon!
