I'm at college now. I'm about to start my first full week of classes (here we go...) It feels like there's so much to tell you all, but I'm not sure where to start...
I have to say, I'm so glad I'm here at Cornerstone. This is exactly where I'm supposed to be for now, and I love it. Yes, it's probably going to get a LOT harder before the next four years are over, but it's so worth it.
Just so you know, this isn't going to be in any certain order. Oh well.
One of the reasons I love this place is my classes. Yes, for real. I guess it's actually the professors who are really fantastic, but they make me excited about the subject. Which is cool. Right now my two favorite classes are Old Testament Literature and Writing in Culture. The professor who teaches OT is super engaging and enthusiastic and I love studying Old Testament history and stuff anyway. So that's exciting. And my English professor (that's my Writing in Culture class) is great. I'm looking forward to getting to know her better. After those two, I think my other favorite class is called Creativity, Innovation, and Problem-solving. It sounded kind of odd, I know, and I'm not sure exactly how to describe it, but the one time I've had it, it was different from any other class I've had, and I still learned a lot :P. I think it's going to stretch me a little. But that's OK. Not to mention, a few of my friends are in that class, so that's cool.
Speaking of friends, I am making those! I'm getting to know a few of the girls on my floor (my suite mates, my roommate, my across-the-hall neighbors, my RA) and some of the other girls in various places in the building. I also have a few people that are in a couple of the same classes as me. And I've made a few friends within my Terra Firma group too. (Terra Firma is the freshman program that runs the orientation weekend. We have small groups that'll continue to meet throughout the rest of the year.) I actually have a picture of my Terra Firma group:
So it's not a great picture. Too many windows. Anyway, I could name them all for you (and if you beg me to, I'll just do it) but the three I hang out with the most are the three right behind me and next to me. You probably can't see that well, but Paul and Josh are behind me and Ceonni is right next to me (I'm the one in the bright green shirt, in case you really can't see...)
Unfortunately, I don't have pictures of anyone else yet. I'm sorry. I'll get on that. I did take some pictures of nature stuff around our pond the other day. That was fun. :) I don't do that often enough. Here's a picture looking at the residence halls from the other side of the pond:
I really don't know if you can see those little tiny buildings (well, they're tiny in the picture...) but my dorm is to the far right. It's kind of hidden, but it's there. Speaking of dorms, I do have a few not-so-great pictures of my room:
Actually that's just my half of the room. I should take a picture of the whole room, but the angle might be a little odd... Anyway...
Um... I think that's about it! Let me know if you have any questions, it'll give me ideas for what to tell you :)
Hope you all are doing well!
Love,
Savanna
